A Little Background Information
The heart chakra is the 4th chakra that bridges the three lower chakras of the earthly elements and the three upper chakras of the spiritual aspects. Your heart chakra is associated with self-love, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, selflessness, and other personal elements. Depending on your circumstances, for example, you are having a rough intimate relationship that affects your sacral chakra. Nine times out of 10, it will also cause your heart chakra to either become overly active, underactive, or wholly blocked. On the flip side, it can cause issues in the other three upper spiritual chakras.
The heart chakra is where the spirit dwells and tries to work with you and through you; for your own highest good of transformation and integration, your life can become enriched with wisdom and unconditional love. If it is blocked or overactive, you are blocking out and exerting conditions on everything you seek and desire to happen out of your fears, expectations, and need for control. In turn, it sabotages everything you have been working on, including the overall balance that you need to grow and evolve. This is the reason why I am writing this article as a way to shine a light on information concerning the planet that rules the heart chakra.
Cultural Differences
Depending on certain cultural beliefs and other teachings based on how the chakras are depicted, there may be some contradicting information. For example, the moon rules the heart chakra yet also the sacral chakra, but some information says that the moon's energies affect all chakras, which I also firmly believe. The reason is that if we are having an argument with a loved one and neither listen without the intent to reply. We tend to listen to our mind's voice (blocking out the crown and third-eye chakra) verses our heart center (heart chakra), and then we start feeling unworthy and frustrated. The full moon and new moon's energies have a driving force in our emotions or a driving force even behind our relationships that sometimes cause an argument or a breakup. How we react to it from a communication standpoint is crucial, and this depends on whether the heart chakra is blocked or is under or overactive.
The Planet Venus
Some information shows that the heart chakra is ruled by the planet Venus, but some other information says that Venus rules the sacral chakra too. This also makes sense, because Venus is not only the Goddess of Love, but also of values, morals, sensuality, tenderness, and sacred intimacy. For this reason, it's essential for people to work on their insecurities, trust issues, and work with self-love to maintain a grounded balance. When you are presented with a divine counterpart that you, perhaps both of you, get triggered by what I call the dark knight of the soul, then it's essential to release all control and surrender for each other's sake's interests. It is the spirit's way to help cleanse, provide a different perspective to work through issues, and open the heart chakra, like the Goddess of Venus. It teaches us to be unconditional love and unconditional acceptance. With that being said, here is some information on the heart chakra that can help you pinpoint each phase you may be going through and improve your emotional state and circumstances.
An Open Heart Chakra
If you have an open heart chakra, you will feel peaceful, energetic, and motivated to try new outlooks. You'll also be able to love unconditionally no matter what the current circumstances are. You have empathy and compassion for the other person while being able to see their point of view without taking up the role of being "a victim." You will be able to build a deep bond with a foundation of friendship and romance. There will be self-love and feeling secure and stable generally in life and within relationships. There would also be self-confidence involved. However, there would also be the act of forgiveness, where you will be able to let go of past experiences and forgive others. When you encounter feelings of hurt, you can embrace them fully, accept them, learn from everything, and then move on from them without looking back and continue holding it over the other person's head. Open heart chakras open up your heart for that renewal and new beginning or fresh start without always making someone pay the price- either from your own self-sabotaging, theirs or even due to other issues that are beyond anyone's control. You will also be a fountain of natural flow, surrendering your control over what happens and when it happens—giving everything over to the spirit, while you continue to work on yourself and your life's path. Accepting criticism and continually evaluating yourself to see if there is, in fact, something that you need to change or try to heal within you is something that comes easy for those who have open heart chakras.
A Blocked or Under-Active Heart Chakra
Having a blocked or under-active heart chakra is pretty easy to diagnose, because you will have jealousy, anger, fear, and trust issues by always thinking your partner is cheating on you or betraying you in some way. You will even have hatred towards yourself and the other person for small, nonsensical things. You find yourself withdrawing and pushing away from each other. You will lack forgiveness - no matter how big or small the issue is. Your partner will feel they are not allowed to have room to grow or evolve with you in a relationship nor communicate their own needs openly and wants without it seeming like they are selfish. If you have a blocked or under-active heart chakra, you will only listen to your mind's voice and have cut everything from the spirit and your guides. Controlling every aspect of the situation, the relationship, or even how the other person should think, act, say, and do to your wishes and beliefs is another detrimental aspect. This, in short words, is self-sabotage, because it is typically manifested from grudges from the past and of other people's mistakes that sometimes don't even have to do with the person that's currently in your life. The bottom line is, you hold a deep fear of being hurt again. In the end, you are basically punishing those around you and yourself at the same time. The other unfortunate aspect of this is where people think the grass is always greener on the other side and then end up repeating the same pattern and lesson time with different people. So, how do you change this? You need to stop and self-evaluate, see what you can do differently and look at things from another person's point of view. Start with self-care of mindful intention exercises and self-love, but be willing to listen and open yourself up to all the potentials that this experience is trying to teach you. In all honesty, most of the time, when the heart chakra is blocked or under-active, it's due to our expectations, which sets limitations on things.
An Overactive Heart Chakra
When you have an overactive heart chakra, you find yourself depending on your partner and believe that only your partner can make you happy, feel loved, and secure instead of it all coming from within yourself. You also love by conditions and expectations, which limit the connection to self-growth. You lose yourself from your own identity due to being needy or always needing validation in the relationship. Instead, it would be best if you were trusting yourself and your inner intuition. You are unable to let go of past pain, hurt, and various issues. Plus, you find yourself unable to regulate your own emotions, for example, mind over matter. This is where being mindful is most important as to how you act or react too during stressful times and try to balance your emotions properly.
Heart Chakra Healing
To help heal the heart chakra, you can use the moon's phases to your advantage in terms of manifesting and grounding yourself, but also cleansing your energies and emotions. You can also use the Archangel Raphael Heart Chakra Meditations to cleanse all emotions and unwanted energies and also align the rest of the chakras. Another spiritual tool that is nice for a heart chakra healing is using singing bowls and feeling the vibrations of the differences in tones go through all of the chakras. Another way is to wear pink and green colors or keep rose quartz in your pocket as its regarded as the stone of unconditional love and self-love too. Another good spiritual practice is to explore nature and even hug a tree (as silly as it sounds). Plant your feet on the grass, feel the sunlight's warmth, and take in some fresh air. Make sure to relax and rejuvenate, which will help expand the energies in the heart chakra. Kundalini Yoga is excellent as well as written positive affirmations or even mindful intent exercises. For example, "All love resides in my heart"; "I am one with the spirit"; "I am of gratitude"; "Thank you for the gift of love you have given to me"; "Thank you for this experience and all lessons that come with it to better myself." These daily affirmations, believe it or not, make a significant impact on your thoughts and emotions.
Many Bright Blessings!
